Good Morning Reader,
I hope all is well and you are having a great Sunday. I am happy to share the newest episode on the Mentium Podcast.
EPISODE SUMMARY
Who Are You Becoming?
The Person You Become May Be the Greatest Achievement of All
We spend a lot of time asking ourselves, “What do I want?”
What career do I want? What business do I want to build? How much money do I want to make? What kind of impact do I want to have?
But in this solo episode of the Mentium Podcast, Madiama asks a different—and perhaps more important—question:
Who are you becoming?
Because your dream doesn’t only ask something from you. Your dream asks something of you.
It may ask you to become more disciplined, courageous, patient, knowledgeable, intentional, or responsible. It may require you to develop new skills, release old beliefs, change your behaviors, or reconsider the people and environments influencing your life.
Whether we realize it or not, we are all becoming someone. Every habit, conversation, decision, book, relationship, excuse, and commitment is shaping us. The question is whether that transformation is happening by design or by default.
This episode explores why meaningful growth requires more than setting goals. Sometimes we are so focused on reaching the next level that we fail to ask whether we are becoming the person capable of sustaining it.
Want to build a successful business? Who must you become to lead people, manage money, serve customers, and navigate uncertainty?
Want greater influence? Who must you become to carry that influence responsibly?
Want to lead? Who must you become so people can trust your character—not only when they are watching, but when they aren’t?
Madiama also explores an important distinction between achievement and becoming. You can achieve more while becoming less—more successful but less humble, more recognized but less authentic, wealthier but less generous.
Meaningful success, therefore, isn’t simply reaching the destination.
It is being proud of the person who arrives there.
The conversation eventually reveals how becoming touches every part of the Mentium Alignment Framework: Identity, Values, Beliefs, Skills & Talents, Behaviors, Purpose & Connectedness, and Circle.
When these areas begin moving in the same direction, we experience alignment.

Memorable Reflections
“Your dream doesn’t only ask something FROM you. Your dream asks something OF you.”
“Maybe it’s simply not who you are yet.”
“Sometimes you don’t need another motivational speech. You need a different room.”
“Everybody can have your love. Not everybody should have your ear.”
“Maybe the waiting season isn’t empty. Maybe the waiting season is becoming season.”
And perhaps the central question:
“Who are you becoming on the way to where you are going?”
The greatest accomplishment may not ultimately be what you build, earn, achieve, or receive.
It may be the person you had to become along the way.

WHO ARE YOU BECOMING? | Your Dream Is Asking Something of You
We spend so much of our lives asking:
What do I want?
But perhaps there is a more important question:
Who must I become to carry what I am asking for?
In this solo episode of the Mentium Podcast, we explore the difference between pursuing achievement and intentionally becoming the person capable of sustaining that achievement.
Because your dream doesn’t only ask something FROM you.
Your dream asks something OF you.
It asks you to grow.
To learn.
To change.
To let go.
To develop new skills.
To challenge old beliefs.
To change certain behaviors.
And sometimes, to enter a different room.
Whether you realize it or not, you are already becoming someone. Your habits, relationships, conversations, decisions, commitments, and environment are shaping you every day.
The question is:
Are you becoming by design—or by default?
In this episode, I explore how becoming touches every part of the Mentium Alignment Framework—your Identity, Values, Beliefs, Skills & Talents, Behaviors, Purpose & Connectedness, and Circle.
We also confront an uncomfortable truth:
Achievement and becoming are not always the same thing.
You can become richer and less generous.
More powerful and less humble.
More recognized and less authentic.
More successful publicly and less peaceful privately.
Meaningful success isn't simply reaching your destination.
It is being proud of the person who arrives there.
So if you are building something, starting over, entering a new season, pursuing a dream, or wondering why the opportunity you've been waiting for hasn't arrived yet, perhaps another question is worth considering:
Who do I need to become to carry it?
Maybe life isn't only preparing something for you.
Maybe life is preparing you for something.
At the end of this episode, I share seven questions you can use to examine your own journey of becoming, including:
Who am I today—and who do I want to become?
What belief about myself do I need to release?
What skill does my next chapter require?
What behavior must I start—or stop?
Who benefits from the person I am becoming?
And does my circle support who I am trying to become?
Maybe your greatest accomplishment won't ultimately be the business you build, the degree you earn, the money you make, or the recognition you receive.
Maybe it will be the person you became along the way.
So don't only ask yourself:
“Where am I going?”
Ask:
“Who am I becoming on the way there?”
Think about it. Write about it.
And most importantly:
Live the answer.
